Are you planning on birthing at the hospital? If you’re in the last trimester of your pregnancy it’s probably time to start packing your hospital bags which also means you get to meet your baby soon!

For some parents, it can be overwhelming to know everything you need to pack in your bag.   You don’t want to forget anything right?

We’ve made it simple for you with this birth bag checklist. Please note these lists are just for inspiration and ideas. We recommend to start packing your hospital bag around 36 weeks if you want to be extra prepared by packing earlier there is nothing wrong with that either. 

Consider packing three different bags one for your baby, one for your labour, and one for everything you need for your hospital stay. 

Labour bag:
  • Birth preferences
  • Affirmation cards
  • Large water bottle
  • High-energy snacks (such as dates, fruit, nuts)
  • Lip balm 
  • Hair ties/ headband
  • Heat Pack
  • Birth Ball
  • Tens Machine
  • Speaker for Hypnobirthing tracks & music
  • Headphones 
  • Diffuser & essential oils
  • LED candles
  • Massage oil 
  • Massage ball
  • Hypnobirthing booklet with scripts, birth partner cheat sheet, acupressure cheat sheet, and visualisations.
  • Sleep mask
  • Wash Cloth – to make a warm compress 
  • Ear plugs 
  • Your own pillow or blankets for comfort
Post-birth bag:

 

Baby Bag:
  • 4 x singlets
  • 4 x full-length onesies 100% cotton
  • 2 x muslin wraps/ burp cloth
  • Water based wipes
  • Nappies
  • Baby blanket 
  • Infant car seat
