Melissa Spilsted is the Founder and Director of Hypnobirthing Australia™ and is widely recognised as Australia’s leading hypnobirthing expert and one of the world’s most experienced hypnobirthing educators.

With more than 25 years of professional training and experience spanning education, clinical hypnotherapy and childbirth education, Melissa has dedicated her career to transforming the way parents prepare for birth. She is a qualified Childbirth Educator (HPCE), registered Teacher (B.Ed, B.Arts) and Clinical Hypnotherapist (CHt), as well as a mother of three who has personally used hypnobirthing techniques for all three births.

Melissa is the creator of the internationally recognised Positive Birth Program™, which has helped more than 80,000 parents prepare for birth. She also pioneered a world-first Positive Caesarean Birth hypnobirthing program, recognising that positive, empowering birth preparation should be available regardless of how a baby enters the world.

She is the founder of hypnobubs™, established in 2013 to make high-quality hypnobirthing education accessible to parents online, and BirthCourse™, a childbirth education program developed specifically for hospital and health-service settings.

Melissa has trained childbirth educators and healthcare professionals throughout Australia and internationally, and her work has been implemented within hospitals and health services. Her expertise has been featured on Channel Nine’s Today Show, Channel 7 Sunrise, ABC, national radio, podcasts and leading parenting publications, and her work has been showcased internationally at the Royal Society of Medicine in London.
