“Thanks Melissa for teaching us the techniques, you don’t know until the time which ones you’ll call on, but I’m so glad we had the tools. Best of all was having the confidence of knowing your body and mind together is capable of great things.”
BRYCEN’S BIRTH STORY
My first pregnancy was in 2009 and I cam across Hypnobirthing close to being full term. I wasn’t able to fit in a course, however I ordered the book online and read it in the last week before having my first son. I was able to implement some of the techniques and have a natural birth with active labour of 3 hours.
Second time around my husband and I attended the course with Melissa and were so thankful to have this knowledge. My labour progressed during the day and I was 3-4cm dilated at 3.30pm, by early evening I knew this baby wasn’t far away. At the hospital I’m sure the midwives did not think the same as I wasn’t calling out for pain relief, I was simply using my visualizations and affirmations while sitting on a chair under the shower and with each surge used slow breathing – this is fantastic!
My husband was with me prompting me along the way and communicating with the staff. Close to midnight we told them I was ready to go to the delivery suite. I walked down there between surges and my membranes soon released. I had some more time in the shower and by 1am the midwife called for my obstetrician. With my husband still prompting me and keeping me on track I gave birth naturally at 1.20am to my 8p12oz (3.97kg) baby boy.
Right from birth Brycen has been alert but also a calm and contented baby that smiles heaps, and I’m sure my positive Hypnobirthing experience, along with me being a 2nd time Mum has helped enormously.
Even my obstetrician who has been practicing for 18 years told me how amazingly in control I was.
Thanks Melissa for teaching us the techniques, you don’t know until the time which ones you’ll call on, but I’m so glad we had the tools. Best of all was having the confidence of knowing your body and mind together is capable of great things.
