I know this isn’t the the most beautiful story like I usually see on your page however I wanted to share my birth story as I found prepping for birth with the hypno birthing tracks so beneficial despite not getting the outcome I hoped for.
At 1 AM on Wednesday, my waters broke, and the adventure began. We headed to the hospital, but they encouraged me to labor at home since I wanted a physiological birth. I took their advice, enjoying a cozy pancake breakfast and some quality time with my husband and dog by the fire.
By 8 AM, the hospital called, wanting me to come in for a syntocinon drip to “move things along” I wasn’t happy about it and felt a bit pressured. I decided to wait until noon, but eventually, I reluctantly agreed to start the drip at 1 PM. The contractions came on fast and intense. I found some relief in the shower, but soon the pain became overwhelming. Gas didn’t work for me; it just made me feel sick. I focused on my birth affirmations to stay grounded.
After a check, I learned I was 3 cm dilated and fully effaced, but the pain was getting pretty intense. I needed a breather, so I laid down with a peanut ball. By 7 PM, I was really struggling and chose to get an epidural. Once that kicked in, I felt so much calmer and progressed to 10 cm fairly quickly. After an hour, it was time to push.
I pushed for three hours, and while the team said I was doing well, my baby just wouldn’t budge. They suggested forceps, but there were concerns about whether they would even work. I was also wary of healing from both an episiotomy and a cesarean. So, we decided to go for a cesarean instead. To top it off, I had COVID, which meant wearing masks in the operating room—a disappointing twist. But when my beautiful baby girl arrived at 6:13 AM on Thursday, I was over the moon—especially since we hadn’t found out her gender!
