Bio
I’m a mother, midwife and mental health nurse based in Melbourne, Australia. I began my career as a Registered Psychiatric Nurse in 2005, and have worked across many areas of mental health care. My own birthing experiences (one cesarean and two VBACs) are what led me to study midwifery, and I am now working as a midwife in a large tertiary hospital across all areas of maternity care including antenatal clinic, birth centre and postnatal. I also practice privately as a Perinatal Counsellor, specialising in birth trauma prevention and recovery. I offer classes in Baronia and Croydon.
During my work in mainstream maternity services, I have noticed many gaps in the provision of care to women and families, especially in the areas of childbirth education and perinatal mental health. I am inspired to provide thorough, independent education to families to support them through their transition to parenthood. I want couples to begin their parenting journey feeling that they are thriving, not just surviving! I want to provide couples with the knowledge, confidence and skills to achieve calm and positive birth experience and a positive start to parenthood.
